
Liz Stevenson was raised in a family with deep roots in public service, where she learned the value of hard work, helping others, and giving back to the community. Those values shaped who she is today. A proud second-generation Saluki, Liz earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is grateful to live, work, and watch her family grow in Jackson County.
As County Treasurer, Liz believes public service is about being accessible, honest, and truly caring about the people you serve. She is proud to work every day to build a Treasurer’s Office that is modern, transparent, and focused on making government work better for the residents of Jackson County.

About Liz Stevenson: Dedicated to Jackson County
Before serving as Jackson County Treasurer, Liz Stevenson spent 16 years working at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she built a strong foundation in service, communication, and problem-solving. A proud second-generation Saluki, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SIU and has always believed in investing in the community that helped shape her.
Liz comes from a family with deep roots in public service, and that background instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility to others. She is proud to call Jackson County home and remains committed to serving its residents with honesty, compassion, and a practical approach to government.
A Personal Side of Liz
Outside of her role as Treasurer, Liz is actively involved in the community. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Carbondale Breakfast and values the opportunity to give back locally. Her family is at the center of everything she does. She shares life with her husband Dan, her bonus children, a grandson, and two dogs, Harlow and Freddie.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys tackling home projects, creating art, and staying active through exercise – interests that reflect her hands-on, creative, and driven personality.
Liz’s Vision for Jackson County Treasurer’s Office
Liz envisions a Treasurer’s Office that continues to evolve using modern tools, improves processes, and always puts residents first. She is committed to making financial information more accessible and working alongside the County Board to provide clear, transparent reporting to the public.
Her approach is grounded in practicality and accountability: listening to residents, solving problems, and keeping up with improvements. By maintaining a clear focus on transparency and service, Liz is working to strengthen trust in local government and support a strong future for Jackson County.
